Anyone know Harry Potter's Birth Date?

just checked. its the same birthday as J.K.Rowling and hers is on the 31st . i remember someone saying they have the same bday

Oh right, so she decided to give her main character the same birthdate? Bit strange.

It's mentioned in the book at some point I think, I remember reading it. I've been re-reading the books and I'm sure I read it in the book. It may have been on another forum tho.

It appears to be uncertain. I don't recall her ever mentioning a year. She does mention in the first book that his birthday is on a Tuesday, which if you look it up could have only been 1979, 1984, 1990, 2001 or 2007. We'll rule out 2001 and 2007 because they are after the first book came out. We can rule out 1990 as well because he would have only been 7 when the first book came out. The best guess I can come up with is 1984 because he would have been older than 11 at the writing of the first book but it could have been any year prior to that that fell on a Tuesday.

Another interesting fact I found on another site was contradictory to the above theory. "...Evidence in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, in which Harry helped celebrate Nearly Headless Nick's deathday anniversary on October 31, 1992. Harry was 12 at that time. So this would mean that Harry was born in 1980, and that he would turn 22 in 2002."

So, it is likely that his birthdate was not meant to align with reality and that the books do not follow a realistic timeline. But the second theory would give him a birthdate of 7/31/1980.
